Q: I need a longer cord.
6 Feet is not long enough. Can you make one for me with a 10 foot
cord?
A: Sorry,
to maintain the UL-867 listing the cord can ONLY be 6 feet. Simply have a
Certified Electrical Contractor install an outlet box on the furnace
itself.
Q: Another company selling
UV systems uses Cold cathode lamps and said they are much better than Hot
cathode lamps which the "BLUE" uses. Your comments?
A: Hot
and Cold cathode are the two type of UV lamps available. Cold cathode are
normally OZONE producing UV lamps, and start better in cooler temperatures
than hot cathode lamps, however in winter months hot cathode lamps start
better than cold cathode lamps. So what's the difference? There isn't much
difference. In cold temperatures our Hot lamps may take an additional second
or two to ignite and light up, but once ON they're doing their job. In hotter
temperatures the same thing happens, but the other way around. What really
matters is UV microwatt output and warranty protection which competitors
can not compare to. Even more, our replacement lamps are very competitively
priced.
Q: Does your system produce
OZONE?
A: NO!
CaluTech
uses UV-C @ 253.7 nm Hot Cathode lamps which DO NOT PRODUCE OZONE! (ONLY
UV below 240 nm produces Ozone) per the Navy Environmental Health Center!

Q: Another company says
their UV lamps last for 3 years, yours are only 1 year. Why is yours only
1 year?
A: Others
use 3 years as a marketing and sales feature to make you think they have
better lamps. We could do this too... but we don't! Our lamps will last for
3 years also, but ALL UV LAMPS lose their ability to produce strong effective
UV-C light after about 9,000 hours (12 months of use), which is why we recommend
annual changes of the UV lamps. Using the lamps for 3 years means they are
not operating at their full capacity anymore. Search the web and you will
see that UV-C germicidal bulbs effective strength life is 9,000 hours (12
Months), NOT 3 years!
Q: Do I install the "BLUE"
unit on the cold air return side, or on the hot side after the blower
fan?
A: Either
side. The purpose of the product is to sterilize the air, but they also make
a great coil cleaner if you have A/C. Installing it at the coils (hot side)
means you're cleaning the air and the coils at the same time.
Q: Why do some companies
say they're unit should only be installed in the cold air return?
A: Because
they're not certified for heat, so furnace heat may melt or damage their
unit. Our Blue UV model was heat oven tested at CSA labs in Cleveland, Ohio
and passed the heat stress, with no change in operational ability. Another
reason some companies say cold side only is because they use cold cathode
lamps, which can literally turn off in high heat areas such as furnace heat.
They need cold or room temp air to stay on, where hot cathode lamps can operate
on either side effortlessly.
Q: Will my humidifier and
moist humidified air damage the "BLUE" Unit?
A: The
Blue was tested for moisture, and is certified for damp locations. The power
supply is an outdoor insulated supply. When installing at or near a humidifier
the "BLUE" unit should be installed above it, not below it. Water mist will
not harm the unit at all, we just don't want water drops from the humidifier
itself falling on the unit!
Q: What is OxyCat
Photocatalytic Oxidation Sleeves and do I have to use it?
A: First,
you don't have to use it but.... why not! OxyCat (patent pending) is EXCLUSIVE
to Calutech products which allows your UV BLUE system to not only attack
living organisms like Viruses and Bacteria, BUT also attack airborne odors
and VOCs! Other UV-C systems do not attack VOCs! Using OxyCat makes your
